If you looking to Learn To Sail; Upgrade your Ticket; get into the Industry as a Career or just qualify to Bareboat Charter anywhere in the World, Paul can help you, as an Accredited, RYA; South African Sailing and IYT Yachtmaster Offshore Instructor he has the knowledge and experience to get you there, albeit Leisure or Commercial.

“Paul performed well over the five days, demonstrating a good
level of Yachting experience and personal sailing skills. We
mainly look at testing five things on a YMI course and Paul was
strong in all five areas. These are Sailing skills, motoring skills,
theory knowledge, teaching and debriefing skills.” Andy Wright LPIOL
RYA Trainer, Examiner and Inspector

There are many ways to get into the Industry, you can follow the “Hero to Zero” crash courses, nothing wrong with this approach and some Excellent RYA Schools that I freelance with in SA, it does come at a cost for the full package.

If you have the time and the desire another way is to build your levels in Modules, this can be done using various paths one could be a Pure RYA or IYT route from Day Skipper, Theory and Practical, Milage Building, Coastal Theory and Practical into a Prep week and YM Offshore/Coastal Exam.

Another option especially if You South African is to first do your SAS Day Skipper and Coastal then go into a RYA Prep week and RYA YM Coastal/Offshore Exam.

All Levels require Minimum levels of Experience, Milage, Days on Board and Night hours. If you want to Sail in South African Waters whether it is recreational or for work you have to have a SAS ticket, If you want to work Internationally you will need a commercial RYA or IYT ticket.

You do not need to have an RYA or IYT Skippers Ticket to sail recreationally anywhere in the world, if anything you request an ICC (International Certificate of Competency) from SAS, there are parts of the World that even ask this of an RYA/IYT ticket. SAS DAY SKIPPER is all that most of the top Charter Companies ask for to Bareboat Charter World Wide.
